The Social Justice Institute (SJI) forms. The SJI trains neighborhood residents of Cole, Sun Valley, La Alma/Lincoln Park, and Baker to learn community organizing skills as well as an analysis of race, class, and gender as it pertains to organizing. After each new group completes the institute, they serve as a Grantmaking Committee for these neighborhoods and mentor new participants.
